BATH & WEST COMMUNITY ENERGY 5% SOLAR BOND OFFER

Your chance to invest in Bath & West Community Energy (BWCE) and help re-finance their first set of Solar PV projects on a range of schools and community buildings.
Earn 5% annual returns with this 5 year unsecured bond offer which is eligible for tax free investment through the Innovative Finance ISA (IFISA).

BWCE has developed into one of the leading community energy enterprises in the country. They have built over 12MW of solar PV plus one hydro scheme, which is enough electricity generating capacity to match the equivalent annual demand from around 4,000 households[1]

The projects BWCE are looking to re-finance were built in December 2011 with a loan from SSE and they have performed above expectations since. As the interest on the loan rises this year, re-financing increases the surplus available for community benefit and also offers an opportunity to widen participation further by replacing commercial debt with individual investment.

The target raise is £1,000,000, of which the first £700,000 will be used to pay off the SSE loan and the additional £300,000 used to strengthen their capital position and create a small fund to invest in new solar projects as they arise. There is no minimum raise and whatever is raised will be used to first pay off the loan.

Key details:

  • 5 year unsecured bond paying target returns of 5% per annum
  • IF ISA eligible
  • Target of £1,000,000 - no minimum
  • Minimum investment £200, maximum £100,000
  • Close date 31 July 2017
Your capital is at risk and returns are not guaranteed. Read the full offer document, understand the risks and agree with the terms before deciding to invest.
